Tara Marie
A mother, advocate, and community weaver, Tara Marie’s life and work have been shaped by her youngest daughter, Emma Sage — her steady light and greatest teacher. Califon Collaborative was born from that love: a place where young adults with developmental disabilities can find meaningful work, genuine connection, and the freedom to simply be themselves in a world that recognizes their brilliance.
“Because when one light shines, the whole valley glows.”
Emily & JB McCollum
Emily and her husband, JB are raising their two boys on their farm among flowers and fruit trees. She has been cultivating the soil for 15 years to grow healthy plants and now she is excited to cultivate a community for people with disabilities. Since her older son was diagnosed with an extremely rare syndrome at 18 months she has dreamt of creating an environment where people like her son felt connected, seen, and engaged.
“When people are given the right conditions, they bloom in ways that surprise us all.”
Lori
With more than 20 years of dedicated service to the disability community, Lori has spent her career building connection, expanding access, and lighting the pathway forward for individuals and families alike. Her work is rooted in the belief that belonging is not optional — it is essential.
“There is a seat at the table — and we checked. The table is accessible.”
Tanya
Tanya is a mother of three whose guiding belief is simple: everyone deserves the chance to shine. That conviction inspired her to create Tanya’s Oriental Lilies, where she proudly collaborates with Flowers by the River and members of the special needs community to cultivate beauty, purpose, and meaningful work.
“Given the chance, every light shines.”
